Pak Ismael, a devout Imam in the fishing village of Panji along Sumatra's richly forested coastline, admits his relatives and friends were wrong to burn down the palm oil company's office and destroy their heavy machinery. But Ismael's resolve to save their village, its way of life and farmland remains. All 30 working age men of his community went on the mission to destroy the company, and all were imprisoned, leaving hundreds of children and elderly to tend the fishing boats and farm plots.
